Imported brick cladding, warm toned lighting make this Vadakara house different | Lifestyle Decor

Abdul Nasar’s dream home at Chemmarathur near Vadakara in Kerala is a splendid example of transforming an old house into a modern and chic abode without losing its soul. The house that is almost a decade and a half old exuded the elegant charm of traditional architecture. Meanwhile, the interiors have been given a modern makeover to suit the modern lifestyle and preferences of the family members. Interestingly, this doesn’t look like a house that has been recently renovated.

Even though it was a double-storey structure, the interiors lacked enough space. So, the family decided to renovate the house to make the interiors vast and spacious. The old mud roofing tiles have been replaced with shingles that add a chic look to the elevation. Meanwhile, the interior spaces were refurbished to make them spacious and look stylish too.

Like the regular traditional houses, this one too has a long veranda and sit-out. The wall here has been highlighted with imported brick cladding. Meanwhile, the warm-toned lighting adds more dimension to it. Interestingly, the cladding and the lighting make this area look as if it has been designed in the ‘wooden’ theme.

Sprawled in 6000 sqft, this majestic mansion has a car porch, sit out, living and dining areas, kitchen with a work area, six bedrooms, upper living area and a balcony.

A unique tree design, done in metal cutting, where the many names of Allah have been engraved on the leaves is quite striking. This scintillating work of art on the wall in the dining hall grants a divine ambience to the area.

The faded old tiles have been completely replaced with nano white flooring. This, paired with the warm-toned lighting makes the interiors look and feel extremely pleasant.

The stairway is designed using onix marble with teak wood finish. The concealed LED lights makes the staircase look incredibly beautiful.

Three bedrooms have been arranged in both the floors. Two bedrooms were newly added. The old bedrooms, meanwhile, got a spectacular makeover, making them look as luxurious as a premium resort.

The colourful kitchen cabinets are done in marine plywood with acrylic glass finish.

The renovation works were stalled for a while during the lockdown period. So, it took around two years to transform this traditional abode into a modern and classy house with spacious interiors.

Meanwhile, the family’s relatives and friends were quite surprised by the newly added features and vast interiors.
