April 20 (UPI) — Solution Support officers shot and killed a man Wednesday morning at the Peruvian ambassador’s residence in Washington, D.C. just after a reported confrontation, police reported

Investigators explained they imagine the male broke home windows at the residence ahead of approaching officers whilst keeping a steel stake.

D.C. Law enforcement Chief Robert Contee told the Washington Write-up that officers on the scene, who arrived soon after the spouse and children read breaking glass, tried using to subdue the intruder with stun guns in the back again yard.

The intruder, described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, has not been recognized. Law enforcement continue to be uncertain of his motive or whether or not he realized the residence belonged to the ambassador. Two officers are going through harm evaluations.

“This is completely out of the ordinary,” Contee explained to reporters.

The Peruvian Embassy afterwards confirmed the incident via Twitter.

“The ambassador, his family, the household employees and the Mystery Services brokers are harmless, and the fact is being investigated by the capable authorities,” the embassy wrote.

Oswaldo de Rivero serves as Peru’s ambassador to the United States, according to the embassy’s internet site. He and his wife have been dwelling throughout the incident, Contee mentioned.

This week, Peruvians took to the streets in Lima to protest higher gas and foods charges, even though it’s unclear if individuals protests ended up linked to the break-in.
